The purpose and intention of my body of work was to create a satirical piece based on impressions and expectations.
The idea was a comparative piece consisting of two portraits of mothers and daughters at home. One photograph would depict them caught unaware at home, doing every day things, showing us a little insight to their relationship. Whereas the other photograph was a staged portrait of the same mother and daughter, putting on a show/trying to impress the audience.
I feel pleased to say that i think Ive caught the idea spot on, i shown my images to an audience before and they understood the idea and the concept.
I really have enjoyed and got a sense of achievement out of completing this project, as i have mentioned frequently throughout my blog I've always wanted to touch upon something personal to me. Although the piece isn't personally about me and my mum but more about other people and their mums, through research i hit a few home truths and realised a lot about my relationship with my mum.. so if it wasn't for carrying out this project i never would have discovered.
There were a few problems i encountered within this project like at first i didn't have a steady idea to start with, it was just 'portraiture' and that's it. But I've discovered that through extensive research you eventually find something that can branch off into many different possibilities. For example, I started by doing this portraiture project just by looking through books, but then i found an idea from the Internet to photograph back of heads. I soon got fed up of this idea so went back to my initial research and dug deeper on original concepts to then lead to where i finished.
I found working with people a little hard especially as i was photographing family members at some stage- they just wouldn't take me seriously! It was really annoying but i acted like a professional and set a boundary and they soon stopped messing around and gave me the shots i was after! (why some of the contact sheets are just of my subjects laughing!) I also learned hat when photographing people, a careful detailed plan of shots is really useful- that way you can't miss out any ideas you have and you can make sure you get the shot that you need which saves everyone's time if you need to return.
Again like after all projects my technical skills have improved. There's also a huge emphasis on trial and error, trying out ideas- whats wrong? whats right? what needs to change? where can this go now? All those questions and more are so important to move on and push myself within a project, which is i will be doing with not only university projects but personal ones too.

Exhibiting my work
As i mentioned before, i wanted to create a random and ecclectic appearnce to my photographs. Im going to be doing this by placing them randomly on the wall but still keeping them with their other pair, and in all different photo frames. As i haven't shot in film/ 35mm and haven't got the vintage feel i like in my own work, i am going try to achieve this by using the different photo frames.. as well as keeping it in the satire genre of them being displayed in a home.
I want it to be viewed this way on a white/cream gallery wall and the prints would be (and are going to be) printed 10x8.
Below is a photograph of my prints ive displayed on a wall.
Below is a guide with my final prints to show what order to view my prints in.

thoughts about exhibiting
I need to think about exhibiting this body of work, i'd thought about making some sort of family album to fit the theme.. but i havent got time to make a template and send it off, and also think it'd be a bit too cheesy and cheap (?)
however this book looks nice, but a bit too fancy i reckon.
I think if its to fit the theme of family ties/family tree, and with it being a satirical piece then i'm thinking id like to frame them all and put them on a wall.
Im thinking different frames, no one the same and having them sorted out at random (whilst still in pairs) on a cream/white exhibit wall.
