I quite enjoyed this little shoot, it was so strange how often something is around which you don't really pay that much attention to, that you see everyday.
I took so many photographs of street signs and bus shelters, i was forever crossing the road going backwards and forwards.. they really are everywhere!
I think i could have come down a bit in angle with the street sings, looking back at them it's starting to annoy me a bit that there's that high angle, bird's eye view-y thing going on, i don't like it.. and isn't something Bernd and Hilla Becher do.
I tried to remember and line up the street signs the same, which was quite difficult as longer names were physically bigger.. the shorter ones smaller. So when shooting the smaller ones with the same amount of space around as the bigger ones, there was just too much of it and looked silly and just crap really.
I still love this concept and really want to do more work on this, although I want this project to have more of a personal touch to it, something important to me..
Seeing all this symmetry and repeated shapes has kind of given me an idea, I kind of have this OCD thing with counting shapes and lines around things like windows- or anything thats square like or geometric..sounds so crazy ha! So i could do a project based on that?
I'll make a new post explaining this counting thing in more detail..
